In the fall of 2013, Panay, a small island in the Philippines was hit by Typhoon Haiyan, also known as Typhoon Yolanda -- one of the strongest tropical cyclones ever recorded. The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) confirmed 6,300 fatalities across the country and the storm initially resulted in over 20,000 people going missing. Project Panay has one ultimate goal, to help those that were affected by this catastrophic event. Their focus is on aiding individuals that do not live in metropolitan areas (The Last Mile). This is because the smaller villages typically don't receive as much aid.

MI Consulting has made a concerted financial effort to help fund Project Panay to support the foundation -- whether it be for food, medicine, books, toys, or even rebuilding houses and fishing boats for local fishermen. For more information about the cause, please visit projectpanay.com.

Another charity close to our heart is the YouShan Disabled Welfare Center in Johor Bahru. While the word "Welfare" implies that this small center is the recipient of government support and subsidies, the reality is that this center fully relies on private donations. The center specializes in providing full-time assistence to children and adults with Down Syndrome, Autism, Depression, and Other Physical Disabilities.

MI Consulting has personally visited this very well-run center.
